Century Review · Liu Haisu

As one of the pioneers and founders of Chinese modern art education, Liu Haisu has made important contributions to the development of Chinese art in the 20th century. He founded the Shanghai Academy of Graphic Arts (formerly known as the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts), and served as the first principal, creating co-educational schools, mannequins, and travel sketches. As a young man, he traveled to Europe in Japan, and visited France, Italy, Switzerland and other countries to study art. In the early years of Liu Haisu's book, Shikang Youwei was fused with post-inscriptions. He used the grass as a body, and painted more postscripts. In November 2017, "A Million in the Sea-Liu Haisu Art Exhibition" was held at the National Art Museum of China, displaying more than a hundred works of calligraphy and painting. To this end, the special issue of Liu Haisu is published, and a set of related commentary and research articles are published, as well as paintings, calligraphy and postscripts.
